Part of Litter Carrier Track whatisit?
I bought a litter carrier, with a couple hundred feet of overhead track. Google if you want to know what a litter carrier is. Great for cleaning out behind stalled horses.
I have the tub, the lifting parts with chains, track and track brackets. But there are two of these things in there, too. I can't see where it would go or what it could be used for.
Anyone know?

used to have a parts book for Beatty years ago, will see if i still have it. looks like one of the many spare parts we had floating around here for years. moms uncle had one and it had switches to go down three aisle before exiting the barn. was a great day when we got a fergy with a front end loader to clean out the barn!

Here's the Louden catalog: Louden hay unloading tools, barn and garage door hangers, dairy barn equipment, litter, feed, merchandise, and milk can carriers, horse stable equipment, cupolas, ventilators, drains, etc., hardware specialties : general catalog no. 46 : Louden Machi
Hope this helps.

Wow, Geo, that's a cool find. I saw my hay track, my uncle's garage doors, and possibly the old littler carrier in the grove in a quick scan of that PDF. Thanks!

Well, George your link took care of a hour. What a great link and catalog, the pictures are wonderful.
Hay, I'm wondering if the piece could be a stop for the end of the rail. Do the two rectangle pieces slide in and out, like a lock to stop the carrier at the end of the rail. Just a thought.

You guys are going to hate me, but I picked up a couple of those catalogs a few years ago at a flee market. They are fun to look at and see the price lists of how cheap things are now. We had a carrier for years in the barn, but I have never seen those parts. Does anything move on them? they almost look like a slide, but not sure. I still love the old days, hard work or not, I still enjoyed them. > Thanks Marc

The piece with the hole, upper left in the picture, moves in and out. That makes a solid square part poke out to the left from the flat blade screw. You can't see the solid square part, it is inside the casting. Works sort of like a common house door latch, but square.

DH's uncle had a litter carrier that went the length of the barn - for cleaning out calf pens. We called it the "trolley."
Anyway, the part that went out of the barn - over the deep abyss - had a stop at the end and an "auto trip" to dump the contents. These two may have been one and the same part - I don't recall what it looked like, and it's been 21 years on July 10 we shipped the cows.
Could your part be the mechanism that causes the trip and auto dump?
