Yes already been posted and yes it did look like a weed patch over the city height requirements. Want to have something like that build a fence. Neighbors have rights also to look out their windows and not see a eyesore next-door.

I do believe that the city statutes read "Sustainable"
And a few things grown in and around weeds whether edible, is not considered a sustainable enough to be considered a garden large enough to keep eating out of.
And the way those pics look she didn't even attainment to "weed" the garden so it does look like a mess, no matter if a few things grown are edible

some weeds are edible too. and "weeds" are only plants that you don't want there. (maybe you need a to take master gardening) and who cares if there wasn't enough to live on. if it is edible it is edible. if it has any vids, cals or antioxidants it is helping you to be sustainable.

I AM a master gardener/ I got to agree with knight. IF one wants to live in a megaburg like Tulsa, they gonna have to play by the cities rules. What makes it bad, is a weed patch eyesore, makes it hard for those city farmers who try to have a beautiful veggie garden. Its people who had tumbledown sheds for chickenhouses, and the chickens ran the neighborhood, and smelled, ect, that caused cities all over the land to abolish haveing chickens. NOW, cities are starting to let people have them, more as pets, than as a source for eggs for a family. And, sooner or later, some person will revert to haveing a tumble down shack for a chickenhouse and let the chiickens roam and get killed in the street, and be a smelly operation, and that will make it hard for city farmers wanting to expland their flocks enough to have eggs enough for a family.

IF someone wants to have a weed patch for a garden, than they need to come out to the country where the neighbors will just shake their heads in disgust and go on.

O and, by the way, I eat the heck outa Lambs quarter, and its a weed. Sort of.

Fault, right, wrong, court date, whatever, this story just proves one thing if you remove the particulars...

Government can do what it wants, when it wants, to whom it wants. It will continue to escalate until we either become a totalitarian state, or people stand up against it.

I currently do not see the majority of Americans giving a ----.

It also goes without saying that a liberal will say that the neighbors AND the government have more rights than the owner of the private property in question.

This is just typical for Tulsa. The sad thing is she lives in a poorer part of town, where on almost any block you can see deserted, boarded-up houses sprayed with graffiti and used as gang hang-outs, yards that haven't been mowed in ages with weeds taller than your head, enough broken down vehicles to look like a salvage, etc. Her yard was probably the best looking one in the neighborhood, plus it was functional besides. The one who filed the complaint was probably just mad that she made them look bad and like a slacker because they don't do anything but grow grass!

Everyone in that city has their nose in everyone else's business and thinks if you don't do exactly as they do then you're wrong, and they don't hesitate to tell you so and/or file complaints at every opportunity. And city and county government is totally out of control.

As as example, my son and DIL divorced about three years ago. My DIL had a property that had belonged to her dad before he died, which they rented out as they had a nice acreage in the country. Well, the last renters destroyed it so badly that it needed thousands and thousands of dollars worth of work on it before it could be rented again, so they just left it empty, but did keep the yard work up to keep it looking nice (this was just the last few months they were married).

When they divorced, she filed bankruptcy on that house, and apparently the yard was allowed to go wild from that point. Two years later, the city sent her a notice, stating that the yard was "an eyesore and a danger" to the neighborhood and she had one week to get it cleaned up or they would send in a crew to do it and bill her for the charges! She took all the appropriate paperwork and showed them that she had not owned the house for two years, but even though the bankruptcy was on file they said they had no record of the deed ever being transferred back over to the mortgage company (Countryside), so she was still the "owner of record" and still responsible!

Four days from the date of the notice (sooner than the week stated, but the day after she had been to city hall with her paperwork), the city sent out a crew who mowed, dug up plants, cut down trees, etc., and they sent her a bill for $7500(!) and insisted she was responsible for paying it.

This young woman works at a casino for barely more than minimum wage and has been trying to fight this in court ever since, but it's slow as she doesn't have the money to hire a good lawyer, and they've been garnishing her check all this time (plus adding interest and late fees onto it monthly)! I doubt that she'll ever get it cleared up or even if she does she'll probably never get her money back.

Tulsa also has a very high crime rate and has been basically taken over by gangs and drug dealers, but instead of doing something about all that they spend their time harassing law-abiding citizens, patting themselves on the back and telling the world what a great place it is to live! I left there almost five years ago, and it was the best move I ever made! (sorry for the length, but argghh!!, lol)

Yep if she wants to grow goats on it it is no problem with the neighbors. They do not own the property and have no say as to what she grow on it. If she wants to have a junk yard then so be it.

too many people like to stick these nose into other people business. if someone doesn't like what is going on next door, buy the place or move.

it is called live and let live.

i don't care what you are doing on YOUR land as long as you aren't hurting something innocent.

The hypocrisy is that if she tended a supremely useless fescue lawn and used endless amounts of water and chemicals to keep it Stepford pretty, everything would be hunky dory.

The world is upside down.

Your right Kitty on your last post. Wrong on your first. Goverment dosent do a thing. Its the people who use it like a tool to get what they want don, did. Tulsa Gov likely would never have bothered her. What Callie says is right about Tulsa. They dont make a move without being prodded into doing it. THEN IF and when they do do it, they stick it to ya. ITS HER NEIGHBORS that did it to her, not the Goverment. They just used the goverment as their tool to get her cleaned up/out. If this would have been in 1900, I magine a number of her neighbors would have come up and took her out and burned the place down.

I say that cause, I hadnt been out here a year when I heard that a buncha neighbors of a old black man were gonna clean him out. Seems like he MIGHT have been takeing in stolen livestock and what else from other young hoodies and fencing it, BUT MAYBE NOT. I couldnt find out where the guy lived. I had a couple pistols and a double 12, and felt bullet proof back then. Was a night time oil field security guard, and felt pretty tough. They cleaned him out, took a bull dozer and piled up all he had and burnt it. Never did find out where he lived. Likely around less than 8 miles away. If alla these people had been living in Tulsa, they would have got the city to do their dirty work.
