Talking Finally got the auger out of the drain!

Yeah, the same one I wrote about a week or so back, it's been stuck in there this whole time.

I called in the Marines! Well, our son is a Marine, and he is stationed at Miramar and comes home on weekends. He brought a Marine buddy with him.

I asked if they could give it a try. Hubby stood there and explained how he had tried and it couldn't be done. Meanwhile, our big muscular son gave it a yank. It made a popping sound, and came out!

Does anyone have any suggestions for soothing a wounded ego?

Glad you got it out. Was there any damage to the pipe?

Not from the auger that we know of.

I already opened up the wall though, and I could see water weeping out. years ago we had a plumber replace some deteriorated pipe. The old pipe was metal, and the new was plastic. He used rubber sleeves with hose clamps at both ends of the repair, and at the lowest point, I could see the water weeping out. There is mold inside that wall, which I've already sprayed several times with a bleach solution. Then we left for our ranch for a few days and left fans blowing in the hole to dry it out.

I really hate it when we pay professionals to do a job and they do shoddy work This was sealed up inside a wall, so we didn't know that there was a problem.

I suppose the old "loosened it up for you" thing wouldn't work? Then tell him what a fine son he raised.
Congrats on the success at last.

Those rubber pipe couplings are not supposed to be used in an inaccessible area . Glad you got the auger out & thanks for coming back & telling us about it .

Bleach does not kill mold spores. Call the closest mold remediation company and purchase some of the good stuff.
