is old old well wire worth $

I have a 500 ft well pump wire laying in my garage.
I am wondering if it could be worth any money, would it be copper ??
I will try to take a picture of the ends..

Copper is the only metal with an orange color. It can turn green when oxidized, however. Shiny, flattish but light wire is most likely aluminum, if it is heavier it may have steel in it.

Normally use copper in a well.
With submerged pumps, the wire is the
most likely thing to give trouble. Every time
the pump starts it twists a bit. Eventually it
rubs a hole in the insulation somewhere. Not
easy to fix and ought not be pieced, either.
I'd put new in the well.

I think someone did put in new somewhere , the reason it is laying in the garage or wells are real different in that area

I have put three pumps in my well so far and am on the same wire .If there are no bare spots it is near same as new .Maybe better than new China made junk . Even if you splice it you can use heat shrink on the splices .Before people got rich they made do No i don't call a well man i do my own
