deciphering blurred img

I need help interpreting what the numbers are in this misplaced poor quality entry. I am only interested in the area circled in red. The first 2 numbers are 70 Outside the red block and to the left is HONC07 Thanks

708232 is my guess if it is typewritten you can put a piece of paper over it and use a pencil to get a etching of the image which might give you the numbers definately

I see 2Z2 on the end. The last 3 digits seem to all have flat bottoms. MHO

I say the last three are 2Z2. If you change the image to a negative and blow it up you can see the middle character has a flat top, not curved like the 2's. The first three look like 762 not 763. The bottom of the third character also looks flat.

I am 100% sure about the last three digits being 232. Look at the date above the outlined area to reference the 3 in the date.
The issue with the second and third digits. The third looks to be a "0" (Zero) based on the reference to the date above with the slash through the digit. The second could be a "6" or and "8". I would look to other letters on the document to see if there is any reference you can make out as definitively either of those two numbers.
HOTW does have a good idea to try to put a lighty paper over the sheet and LIGHTLY run a pencil over the area to see if you raise any of the details out of the sheet. It will be an inverse image so you will have to be very light with the pencil.

From the manufactere date above, we can see the flat top and hard angle of a "3". There is no 3 in that serial number.

7xy2Z2

If you look at the right-hand side of the "y" digit, it goes in and back out again.
I think "y" = "8"

7x82Z2

The "x" digit has a full uninterrupted curve on the left. It may be a "6", but comparing it to the zero in "HONC07", I think it's more likely a "0" (zero)

7082Z2; second choice 7002Z2.

If you have access to the trailer itself, is there a manufacturer's and serial-number plate on it?
Can you use what you've got already, including date of manufacture and partially-deciphered serial number, and ask the manufacturer?

I did some photoshop tricks to see what came up. When I take out the center line except if it obvious part of a character I get:
7?82?2

The first question mark appears to be more a G or a 6 than a 0, although I can see how if a roach ate part of it away it could be a 0 with a crossbar.

The second question mark is a Z or less likely a 7 with an underline. Note the difference in slant between it and the other 7.

There is supposed to be a serial number etched into the frame near the tongue.

Thanks everyone! I know what the number is now. I took a short trip this afternoon and removed a portion of the underpennng from under the trailer. On the tongue end on the metal cross piece the number was painted on the frame. The number is 708232. Thanks again!

Kewl. I see where the 3 tripped me up, but to be honest it would probably do so again if I wasn't careful.
