I've seen it in drug stores like Walgreens, but I normally purchase from an organic food store, or when I purchase oils for my soap making.

I mainly use it in soaps, for bug bites and in a lotion/salve.

From Anniesremedy.com:
Tea Tree : Medicinal Uses & Health Benefits
The essential oil is distilled from the feathery, narrow bright green leaves. Tea tree's major contribution to the herbal pharmacy is its broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Often called a "first aid kit in a bottle", it is ideal to take along on camping trip or anytime you are traveling. Tea tree is also an all purpose remedy for respiratory infections, acting as an anti-infective agent and strongly stimulating the body's own immune system.

It's the oil of an Australian tree, kind of like eucalyptus. You can get it at any health food store. Dilute it with some other oil before putting on your skin.

It is an essential oil from a tree. It stinks. It can be purchased at WalMart or many other places in the supplement section. It runs about $5-$10 for a 4oz bottle.
It smells horrible, so I can imagine that it would repel any bug, but I don't know for sure.

I get mine at Walmart.
I use it for EVERYTHING.
In icky laundry
On wounds (one time dh was trying to get the lid on the septic tank and the lid fell through, and he raked his shins on the side of the opening and his leg went down into the tank. I slathered his leg with TTO and within 3 days it was healed, and never got infected.
I used it on my dd's brown recluse bites and in never went septic.
I use it in the boys bathroom to kill the pee smell from the tile grout around the bottom of the toilet.

One time I had a sinus infection, couldn't make it to the dr right away so I would put some on a wash cloth along with lavender/eucalyptus and peppermint oil, and let the HOT water hit it and stood where I could inhale the steam. It killled the infection within 24hours of doing this 3x a day

When anyone has a cold, croup, I use the TTO, Lavender, eucalyptus and peppermint mixture on a cotton ball on the humidifier.

I've just recently read about it's insect replant abilities.

I was curious too cause a penpal had mentioned hearing this recently. I didnt know.

I haven't tried it for ticks yet, but plan to soon. I always keep tea tree oil in the medicine cabinet. It has so many uses (and I don't mind the smell either). It has anti-fungal properties too. I once has a rash on the back of my arm. Dermatologist said it was a fungal infection and asked if we had kittens. I had three at the time. He asked me what I was treating it with and I told him I was using tea tree oil. He didn't prescribe anything for it...told me to keep using the tea tree oil because it was as good as any prescribed treatment.

Yep, it works for ticks. I add a few drops to some water and spray myself and the dogs before going in the woods. Have not had one tick in several years. The dogs stay flea free also.

I get mine from Melaleuca. It is a very good grade of tea tree oil.
A drop of that on the skin doesn't burn you. I use it on chigger bites, mosquito bites, and anything else like cuts or scrapes.

1/2 oz is like $7 and 1 oz is $11.59 The thing is, if you want to buy from them someone who is already a customer will need to set up your account so you can shop online.
