Rappel hikes / waterfall Rappel

My son will be taking a break from Homesteading to work at Green River Adventures this summer. They offer hikes to a waterfall where they practice rappelling skills. Here is a link about it:

We are putting together a list of online sources for rappelling photos or information. Does anyone have web sites to suggest as resources? Thank you.

That looks sweet! I'd love to rappel down that! If money wasn't so tight, and the kids weren't so little, I'd be game!
Is that fall "private"? I just wondered if you had to book the trip to do it if you had your own gear

What fun. I lived in NC & SC for awhile and loved taking day trips to visit all of the local known waterfalls that you had to hike in to. A couple times I went to a small waterfall that you could stand behind. It is a beautiful part of the country.

Raven12: The Water Fall you can stand behind might have been Hooker Falls near Brevard. It is beautiful, has a good swimming hole and you can climb behind the Falls. Very nice spot.

nc_mtn: Bradley Falls and Big Bradley are not private but going back there alone, the first time, is not recommended. Only a month ago a young man fell from the top of one falls and died. The Trail can be slick, rocks slippery and most locals tell visitors not to go back there alone. But - people do hike back there and visit the Falls. Just be careful. If you plan to rock climb, take a Buddy along too - with a cell phone. Be careful!

Yes, he loves it! He has worked as a Snowboard Instructor, White Water River Guide, Black Water Guide, Sea Kayak Guide.....Rock Climber....and now at the Green River Adventures. He has worked to build our Homestead too and we are really proud of him and his two brothers.

In another post I will show the new Homestead Banner he just made. Visit his Facebook page sometime or he and his brothers are working on a Homestead web site too.

The waterfall was close to the NC/SC border close to Whitewater Falls. Brevard is a beautiful little town. I haven't been up there since the 90s though. I personally have always loved the area south of Asheville and west of Hendersonville. My favorite part of NC. Hands down.

Raven12: Not sure which Falls that would have been. There are so many around these parts. Literally thousands. But - we always caution folks to be very careful. The rocks are slippery and it is always safe to hike with a buddy and a cell phone.

Yesterday my older son and friends went on the Green River Narrows section and while hiking down, saw 2 men carrying a hiker out with a broken leg! Not sure how she fell but it is a challenge to haul people out from down there.

Western NC is a stunning beautiful area and when caution is used, everyone can enjoy it fully. Take care!

The boys have a new video up at their Facebook page: The Green River Dries section. It is just a short video but you can see the Green River section called The Dries.

Have a good day everyone.
