Question Anti-vibration gloves?

Weed wacking and mowing is a fire safety issue here, but the vibration even from the Husquevarna top of the line mower is killing my hands, especially my once-broken wrist hand.

Does anybody use anti-vibration gloves? What's the best kind? Looked on the internet and there's stuff from $50 bucks to $20. Cal-OSHA is no help. Got some Wells Lamong "gel pack" and they don't have padding - just a little slip patch that I guess helps for blisters.

My son who broke his wrist about 3 years ago at his "Growth Plate" was told last year to use anti-vibration gloves. I took a bit to find them as the type of store that carries them is 200 miles from home and I needed to make sure that they fit so mail ordering was out.

Per the boy it MAKES THE WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. They were not cheap-57 dollars but he can work longer, harder, and get more done.

Maybe mount the mower handle to the mower with rubber pads/blocks you would still have it hard mounted, but the rubber would be between the handle and the mower deck.

Just an idea, I don't know if it would help or not, just thinking out loud..

A place you could find the rubber pads might be from non skin furniture pads or motorcycle motor mounts use rubber bushings.. Again just thinking out loud.

Hope that helps

bicycle gloves.

I went on a 60 mile bike ride one day and by the time I got home my hands were numb from all the shocks. I bought bike gloves after that and didn't have any more problems.

I have, and with my old weed wacker they made a big difference. My new one not so much as it does not vibrate as much. DH found the same thing with his chainsaw (what they were bought for), made a big difference on a machine that didn't have a lot of vibration dampining, but much of a difference with one that did.

BTW - the machine I had problems with was a Husqy (loved it) and now have a Stihl. The low end Ryobi vibrated too.

I've always had the handlebar type that you need to ware a harness with. The husqy had a big advantage in tank size though. There were times I was wishing it would run out of gas so I could go take a break! WIth the Stihl, the machine always runs out of gas before I do.

Ready for some serious wacking
