Who has a McCormick W6 Tractor?

I would like to know what the difference is between a McCormick W6 and a McCormick Super W6?

DH has been offered one with a cracked head and we are trying to find out the value and the diff between the two, to be sure that the tractor is the Super model the man claims it to be.

I did some internet searching and am having trouble coming up with the answers we seek.

Anyone?

Go to YT Forums. Find the IHC forum and powt your question there. Youll likely have to registerr. I would guess the Super has more hp and more, OR better hyd.

The M and W6 shared the same engine, and the Super M and Super W6 shared the same basic engine with some internal differences, and YT parts offers a rebuilt head that will fit the M and W6 for $600, but does not list a rebuilt head for the Super M and SuperW6------so....it may take some searching to find one to fit. Probably the milled thickness was the difference, since the gaskets in the catalog seem to be the same. I would check it carefully before buying. The differences? Basically a newer year, and slightly increased HP. You would need both parts manual to make a comparison--which YT sells, too. Your seller may have already checked it out, and maybe could point you in the right direction.

Well, the seller owes DH money and has offered this tractor as partial payment. DH is a mechanic, so fixing it is a non-issue. DH heard from someone that alot of times, the W6 were simply changed decals to Super W6. He don't know if it is true, he just wants to be able to verify when he looks at it, that it is in fact a Super W6, and what the difference is.

The Super 6 will have the letters/numbers C264 cast in the upper corner of the block above the oil filter.

Yep, should be able to find out anything from the serial numbers. Good job jwal10, decals mean nothing, serial numbers are harder to change. > Thanks Marc
