organic whole corn sources?

this is a question either for people raising organic poultry/livestock or who have information about organic feed grain sources.

i am making an organic whole grain poultry feed to supplement mostly free range birds. while my natural foods grocery coop has most of the components in bulk, they actually don't sell whole corn (other than popcorn). i have had a really hard time finding local sources in the NC piedmont, though i am still making calls and asking around with some hope of finding somewhere. if i have to spend $10 in gas to go get it, it might be cheaper to order something online if i can find a source, even if i have to pay shipping.

i will be growing some of my own this year, but it won't be enough as i'm just getting started and it also isn't ready yet.

i know many of you grow your own or have local sources, but any suggestions that might be available to me would be great. thanks so much!

edited to add: i've found it on amazon with free shipping for about $1.00 a lb, so that's the reference point! Thanks

There's a grainery in the thumb of Michigan here that sells yellow or blue shelled corn for $13 a bushell. I know that doesn't help you get it in NC, but might give you a better price comparison.

I'm no help up here in MN, but just had to comment - holy cow!!!!

$56 a bu for organic corn, they must be laughing all the way to the bank - or very low sales volume!

Regular corn is worth $5.50 - 6.50 a bu these days locally here, I've heard of 50 cent to $2 premium for organic corn in these parts. That would be a farm price of 11 to 16 cents a lb some farmer was paid for that corn.... I know, cleannig and bagging and shipping, but....

yeah, i found a local organic farm that sells 50lb bags of organic feed corn whole kernel for $22, which is similar for the other grains. that seems to be the only farm around that sells organic so i think those are the best prices.

It probably is, I can't remeber the name, didn't write it down since they didn't seem intrested in dealing in anything smaller than tractor trailer loads even though they advertise smaller quantities. I think it was in North Branch.

This one is near Caro, just north of Caro, I think. I'm pretty sure they do smaller batches.
