If you know any wood lathe enthusiast, they would be interested. The wood grain in a burl makes some very nice bowls.

An intact entire burl like that could be well worth any shipping charge. There could be better places than eBay, but my basic point is that you have something that might bring you a lot of money if properly marketed.

IF you are working with wood it will make nice knives handles and handle for a gun or other wood work for nice bowels. If it were 4 foot you could sell it for for furniture manufactures.

First cut the burl off in as large a chunk as possible. Then wax all cut surfaces or at least paint with latex paint. Wax is best. I have a iron wood burl bowl in fact three of them it is pretty. Keep the burl in the shade waxing. You can use melted candle wax or a product called Anchorseal but it is expensive. PM me the size of the burl and I will give you a value. If I cut a tree with a burl I have the anchorseal ready and cover all surfacxes not covered with bark and load it in the van right then and keep it in the dark out of sunlight If you wait it wll crack and be worthless. I will check my PM tommorow morning. Got a new computer and hate typeing on it so please excuse the mistakes. David

Northern Ironwood trees are a variety of Elm. They are also known as "Pis-elms"
