A fox?

Grrrr discovered one of our large white guineas was missing last night and this morning saw a beautiful red fox chasing the others....wishing I'ld have had my shotgun with me but knowing I might put more pellets into the surrounding guineas than in that fox.

Are foxes edible?

If you are accustomed to eating dog, fox would be like desert.
When I was a children ladies wore red fox fur collars on their winter coats, and all the sporty young bucks had fox tails on their car radio anteneas. Hardly any of them really had a radio in their car. A Model A Ford coup with a rumble seat and yellow wire spoke wheels with a fox tail, tweeked the fantasy of many a depression teenager.

Go blast that fox.

If you want to keep the pelt, and I certainly would, trapping would be better than a shotgun, by a bunch (several holes better). There are a number of places that will do the tanning and make a garment for you when you have enough. They can tell you how to preserve it before shipping to them.

I dunno. I eat just about anything, and like dog. I've eaten it a number of times and find it just fine. That said, whenever I'm skinning foxes, they stink. I've never been able to convince myself to cook one and eat it. Try it if you wish, but I wouldn't hold high expectations.

I think your question really is,
Is Fox palatable?
I can't answer that but I do know prepping and cooking play a major role.
I brought home my first Bowfin the other night,most people say its inedible,
Wasn't bad at all, Bit different from other fish but not bad.
Like I told the guys down at the river worst case it would be chicken food.
But in your case it be poetic justice!
