Retractable clothes line

I am looking for a solid retractable 5 line clothes line that will last at least a year in the Arizona heat/sun.

I only see one brand online and there are complaints that the plastic parts break from sun exposure.

Any one heard of any type besides Whitney Designs? TIA K

Never had one. If they are only in the sun during use, are they still short lived?? If so, would it not be possible to retract then into a shaded spot such as under the eves of a buliding, or have a cover over the top of where they are when wound up??

I have two of the single ones. I will find out the brand when I go out to get my clothes off the line later in the day.

One of them I bought used and have it for three years, so it must be about five six years old by the looks of it.. They faded in the sun, but they still work.

i can hang everything I wash inside the house except for sheets and blankets, as I have been doing that in my laundry room for years..however, I generally dry sheets and blankets in my clothesdryer.

I also have one of those umbrella things I can put outside to hang clothes on, but they also won't fit sheets..so I'm also going to keep an eye on this thread

A family friend has a clothes line from his back porch to the peak of his farm shed(could use a tree instead) about 100ft away. He is using 2 pulleys like these Household Essentials 277 Aluminum Heavy-Duty Clothesline Pulley | eBay but bigger--maybe 16". They can stand on their porch and hang out alot of clothes. The peak of his shed is at least 16ft high. They love it.

I checked. the single line ones that I have are one made Butts and the other is made by NHP. They have been holding up great in the sun and the ny winters.

I have one that I purchased from Lehman's catalog several years ago and it has held up well. It's not outside though. I use it in my dining room in the winter and on rainy days. It holds all my towels and jeans without any problem.

hmmm pullies makes me think, I have a whole bunch of antique pullies I could put closthes lines on, they wouldn't retract, but they are cast iron and wood and would stand up quite well..may give that a try
