Found out something about hauling my barns (house)

Stopped into a place that makes barns and sheds. Asked if they hauled individual peoples barns. He said heck yes. I gave him the distance, around 80 miles. He said that, they being 14ft, they would have to have forward an d back drivers, and with that, it would likely be $1,500 for both.
I said I just wanted a quoter so I could know whether it would be cheaper to haul them, or just have somebody build one on the property Im looking at. He said, well, to builf a 14 X 40 nowadays would cost $10 000. Guess that told the tail

I think I could live with that quote you got (on moving). Sounds fairly reasonable, compared to the new building cost!

That's really good if it's both buildings. Nothing like talking to the source.

Make sure he will stick with that price. I've had two buildings moved, and BOTH times the movers came up with lots of extra things to charge for afterward.

do make sure they are INSURED..and make sure you get a good contract in writing..otherwise sounds like a fair deal.

we have friends here in N MI that are house movers..they go out when expressways go in and buy up the houses and move them onto vacant land or sell them..they put steel beams under them and slide them on axles and move em, sometimes power lines have to come down and tree pruning crews need to remove overhanging limbs, that might bring extra charges from the power company and you may need permission from the people who own the trees.
