?? Parmak charger questions

we have a Parmak fence charger, the 30 mile one....red...it has worked very well but when I plugged it up yesterday it seems to not be charging at full output....even not hooked up to any lines at all...just the charger plugged in, it will only register at about 12 or 13.....it should be up to 17, at least....we have another one just like it and it is working just fine....it doesn't seem to improve hooked up to just the ground rods and nothing else....or when it is hooked up to all the lines plus the ground...I checked the fuse, which is fine...does anyone have any just other ideas as to what is impeding the output of this unit?

or what I can check inside the unit?...it is charging, just not at full capacity...

fence charger

Try pouring some water around the ground rods to see if that helps.

There are usually only two reason for this. One is a Short someplace along the line. Be it something touching the wire, or maybe even an insulator "leaking", OR a ground that has gone somewhat bad.

There's really nothing you can "fix" inside since it's all printed circuits.
It could be the meter is incorrect.

Open up the box and look for a burned spot usually at the output post. If you find the spot, reconnect the broken or burnt wire with solder. I've repair mine this way, it's easy...Topside
