Lawn mower question

I bought 3 lawn mowers last Sat. $20 for allThe biggest has a 24 deck and a 5 B&S engine thats shot. Its self propelled. Ive got another that has a 20in deck and has a B&S 3hp engine on it. Would the 3 be able to handle the 24in of traded across??

If you go slow and don't mow foot high grass it should .Here with that size mower and my size yard it would grow faster than i could cut it

On a 24 inch, 5hp is minimum, probably need 7hp or 8hp for robust power. 5hp on a 20 inch (not self propelled) and you might have chance actually mowing weeds and taller grass in rougher terrain.

In other words it all depends what you want to do with it. I dont see how 3hp could power 24 inch mower anyway, anyhow. Maybe if you have a very level putting green and want to remove 1/16 inch off an already short cut.... 20 inch non-self-propelled mower probably limit for 3hp.

I have to agree my push mower is 21 5.5 hp and this tough new fescue is all it wants. My main mower is a grasshopper with a 18 horse isuzu diesel with a 48 inch deck and its still a pain to mow this new wet grass.
