It is going to be cold tonight

It is going to be around 25 degrees here in north western WV tonight. I have been waiting to put out anything that can’t stand the cold.

It'll be chilly in the NE as well. I just brought in all my seedlings I was trying to harden off. I guess I'll be starting over with hardening them off next weekend. ~sigh~

Crazy weather. 80's last week. 20's this week!

Ed, cover it with a pot then a blanket or towel. Do it before it starts to cool, 5:00 to 5:30 at the latest. What you want to do is keep the warmth from the soil around the plant. I've got tender plants through a hard freeze that way but you have to cover them before the temps drop.

Forecast to be around 28 by sunrise tomorrow. I've already started to bring stuff inside. Maybe the cold will get the cherry tomato volunteers that are coming up in my raised bed.

Probably should give the rabbits some oats tonight.

Oh Chewie...you are not a dumbo! And your goats look adorable in their sweaters and I think they like them!

Here, too... put the season extender fleece back on the beds. Looks like all of next week is going to be cold nights.

Living right off the Pacific coast, we've had systems that come in being warm, wet weather from the south and, as soon as the system starts moving east, the winds switch and come from the north with freezing nights.
Well- at least we can see them coming. And there's no drought any more.............

It never got below 50 last night so much for the freeze warning. I guess I would make a good weather man. I missed it just like they do.

It's supposed to be 17 here tonight. My garlic is already 4" high. I know garlic is hardy, but is this too much? Do I need to cover it with something? Any experienced garlic growers out there?

Row cover or hay or straw or leaves on the garlic should be good for the night!

Dave: TONIGHT is the FREEZE. We have 6 trees and 8 blueberry plants to bag or cover.

When I planted this one (1) tomato I placed a black 5 gal. beside it in case I needed to cover it. Also I have a gallon jug full of water warming to set next to the plant too.

How big of a bucket is needed to cover peach, apricot, and cherry trees?

I told the rabbits there could be a special treat today. A bucket full of sticks freshly cut from a green mulberry tree, and a bucket full of freshly cut chickweed. Big servings for all.

If I ever find one I'll let you know. My peach tree is in full bloom and the almond has just dropped it's petals. Thankfully the apples and blueberries haven't bloomed yet.

My bush cherries are starting to form little fruits but I don't have blankets big enough to cover them either.

We found something close, maybe you have one or CL or Freecycle does .....

.........A 23 year old, 6 man tent that was replaced, and QUITE unlikely to ever be used again. I pounded a 6 foot tall, chain link fence pole/ pipe into a starter hole . I used a pipe wrench to remove it - and slid a 10 foot one in place. We cut the floor out of said tent and popped it on and staked it in place.
