cats in my raised beds

anything I can spray around the garden area to keep cats from using it for their litter box?? I'm just about ready to spray .22 shells at this point.

Cayenne pepper works, just sprinkle the area, works for rabbits too.

Yup, cayenne works great. Had a stray make a home in a hack of walnut boards,
peed everywhere and stunk it up, they don't like cayenne, he moved on.

I laid 2X4 fence wire over mine until the plants got started then took it off.

There are some other things you can try, too:

Cut sections of pruned rose canes about 6" long and lay them around in the beds;

Put short stakes around the perimeter of the beds and string clear fishing line across the beds, not leaving any large spaces.

Cats don't like going where they get pricked or entangled, so they stay away.

The wife will tell ya, I'm a fan of electric fence to keep critters in or to keep them out.

We have some stray cats that try to get into my chicken coop at night. We've tried to trap them but that hasn't worked. I'm going to have to try the cayenne and think I'll try the rose canes too, or clean out our blackberries and lay them around the outside of the coop.

Depends on how big those upraised beds are or what supplies you have in hand..a cheap easy fix for me was poking sticks around the entire bed inside edges and then, I stapled down the edge of the netting on the outside, then I wired the rest together, pretty easy to open and close plus, dogs, birds and bunnies do not get in there either. There is some nice large mesh netting you can buy, metal or nylon.... Depends on the size of the critters too! With big ones, better to go with electric fence or putting up metal fencing around it with a netted top.
