Planted garden today in okla---wasn't going to?
After the dry weather last year, I did not plan to plant a garden, but it is just so hard not to. We have had some rain, but not enough already this year, but we do have it forcast. It is hot here, really warm today. I had a lot of good free help, all he needed was a few kisses from granny and a freen lunch and some rest. He loved it and is only two.

How cute! I got my broccoli in a couple of weeks ago. Am thinking of risking it and planting tomatoes this next week... not much to lose, I guess

I would have had it in earlier, had I known the weather would be like it has been. I planted last year on the 8th and freeze got some of it with it covered. Maybe not this time, just hope it keeps raining.

Each to their own, but I have been getting a nursery order of bare root trees/bushes/strawberries set AND the soil isnt that warm yet. Even without frost or freeze, I doubt warm weather crops would do much until soil warms.
Either use soil thermometer or do the old way and wait until the oak tree leaves are size of squirrels ear. Oak leaves are right now still just buds.
Now I have couple little pear trees and a plum tree that are leafed out. I thought they jumped the gun a bit, but reckon they know what they are doing. Pretty little things.

Agree with everything you say, but worth a try. It has been in the upper 70's to 80's the last few day and warm before that. Redbuds are blooming, mowed twice, and flowers are blooming. Oaks do lack the "squirrels ears". I doubt that the Okra will come up, but I think the othere will be Ok, maybe not the squash, it may not come up.

If you just planted seed, it will either wait until soil is warm or rot. So like you say, just out bit seed.
I never tried those "wall-o-water" things, that might help. Though cant see spending money on the official ones, just collect those skinny throw away plastic water bottles everybody seems to carry around and either wire them in a circle or duct tape them. Suppose wire would hold up to weather better. I just never saw all that much time saving trying to get tomatoes and such going super early unless you live in area with very short frost free growing season. Ones planted when soil is warm catch up quick.
