My take on work boots.

Redwings ROCK, uppers are great, resoled many times and a proper oiling.
MUCK boots are very good, compared to the other crappy rubber boots...

and I always get split soles with Wolverines, durashocks soles split under my foot balls, but they are comfy, they just don't last more than six months in an assembly plant.

I have a pair of Chippawas that I like really well that I have worn for awhile and my fee don't bother me as much as my Justins. Did at one time were nothing but Redwings, but they just got where they did not fit like they should and would run over on the back side heels, not my Justins or my Chips. Justins are no longer made in the US, which makes a difference to me, but what is not?

I wanted boots made in America and found Thurogood boots. I'm very happy with them.

When I was working for a living I always bought K-Mart/Walmart specials cause they were cheap and lasted about as long as any other more expensive shoe.
As a retirement gift I was given a pair of Wolverine boots, now going on 4+ years and still going strong....... one of the best "free" things I ever got.

Redwings, right out of the box, are the best feeling, best fitting work boots I ever bought.

The owner of one of the local boot shops told me that "Made in the USA" does not necessarily mean "quality". Reason being, foreign countries do not have the same manufacturing rules/regulations.They can use different materials/glues/methods, that seem to be superior to many of the products made in the USA.Just what she said*

Vibram soles don't crack. That is the first thing I check.
Danner makes the best boots. I've worn Danner Acadia for many years.
They can be re-soled.
They are costly, but I need my feet to remain healthy, so I'm worth it.

I love my Muck boots. I have had them for 12 years and don't think I will have to replace them anytime soon. Now the other boots as mentioned (in other posts) I have had to replace every few years. Now it really depends on how there used. Now I live in Oregon and Muck means mud. Danners, which I love just don't stand up to the mud and neither do the others. My Danners are for summer only, which in OR is 3 months out of the year.
