Ive got an old wheelbarrow sprayer

Maybe a 15 gal tank, Maybe a Hudson. The pumps gone. Im thinking id like to rig up a battery powered pump to use in it. Any ideas what id need for a pump. Im guessing the line is 1/4in from pump tp handle? What would I need from pump to bottom of tank? Same??

Bill when my sprayer tank went, it was cheaper to buy a whole new rig on sale than the individual parts where. Keep an eye out in the flyers.

Get your pump and see what size it has, usually bigger in than out. Use a lawn tractor battery, makes a very light sprayer. I built many that we walked the grass seed fields to spray weeds. used 3 bicycle wheels with a wagon handle. 3 men, 60' swath....James

I used a pump for a camper for mine and it works good because of the high pressure cut out so that it will not use more than a sprayer will carry. I payed $50 for mine at a farm store.

I cant find any info on battery operated sprayers that are 75 years old. So, so much for antiques.

FB,

You might cross post in the Alt. Energy group. They might have some good ideas on 12vdc pump and how to power them.

75 years ago, this had to be some kind of orchard sprayer? Madison avenue brain washing of "more profitable ag through corporate chemical miracles" didnt really start until 50s.

Just curious how your original sprayer was powered. Pretty sure it wasnt a battery if its 75 year old.

Dad had this ancient thing with booms pulled by tractor. Small by todays standards. Also had hand held hose wand thing for spot use if you needed to get to someplace you couldnt with booms. Originally had its own engine to power pump and he converted it to a pto driven pump. He wasnt fond of having infinite number small engines to do maintenance on.

HJ It had a hand pump onto it. You took the sprayer where you wanted like a wheelbarrow, set it down, than wioth one hand pumped and with the other aimed the wand.

Ive got a 300gal sprayer with booms and a wand. I can use either or only one boom, or I can shut the booms off and use a 8ft center boom the outer end booms are hooked onto. I can raise or lower the booms. I can raise the booms and have drop nozzles that go down 2 ft or so. I guess for spraying roundup at the last cultivation.

CR I dont know if they had battery powered sprayers or not. People were way more inventive back than than most are today. They did have battery powered gatling guns in the 1880s. They had battery powered cars, battery powered radios and fans. They had battery powered electricity to the house.
