Thinking Of Reducing The Sheep Herd

I am probably going to be selling off all of my California Red Sheep in the very near future. I have about 10-12 good ewes (registerable and registered) and 3-4 really good rams (registerable or registered) that I will sell for about $150 a head. I will butcher all the extra rams for the freezer and just retain a small herd (2 rams 4-5 ewes) of Katahdin and katahdin/Cal Red cross sheep that don't have to be sheared each year (I have zero use for the wool). I want to get down to few enough animals that I can largely rotational graze for most of the year on my 7 acres. Anyone interested in nice sheep - PM me for a great bargain.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, too bad we're not set up yet. Could you advertise them on the registry's website?

We have a for sale board on the sheep board here and of course there is the barter board, get the word out that's a very good price. You sure you wanna do this?

I need to cut the herd down and I need to get away from having to shear the beasts each spring. I am too small to have any great sales of wool, and the wool pool doesn't pay much either.
