GOOD FIND AT THE FLEA MARKET (pic)
Found these two books at the flea market Saturday. They are in nice condition. The Deadfalls and Snares are Depression Era (1935). The Fox Trapper is 1953. May need to know how to use the Depression Era one sometime. Hope not!

Anything in particular that you are interested in? I see a lot of the books you are talking about in this part of the country. I am a book guy, but I like the Okla historical, Indian, cowboy, lawman, outlaw, etc. Most of them I like is from the area of Indian Territory. I will be on the lookout for some and let you know if I find some cheap.!

Those books look to be earlier editions of one's you can still buy today. If you look in the back of Fur-Fish-Game magazine, they have many titles that deal with hunting dogs, building shelters, trapping, tanning hides, etc. Nice score...I enjoy reading those old books to see how the "old timers' did it.

Not to change the subject, but I like the table the books are sitting on. Any chance of another photo of the table?

About the table
I thought the same thing, CF. It looks like it has been distressed.

The table is an old table 9' 2" long and came from an old store in a little town in the area I live. It is from Indian Territory days I am told. The old fellow I got it from, as well as several items from the store as it was going out of business over the years was purchased by his father and run by this person and his brother for many years. If I remember correctly his dad purchased it in 1921 and the store was built on the river waiting for the RR and RR thought it was too low, so they move the store to where Braggs is now located. First move, the grade was too steep and had to move to where it was when I got the table. It was what was called a dry goods table. The table he said was in the store when they bought the store. It was started by JJ Patrick where it was located at last, not sure before that, but Okla was not a state until 1907. The table is a least 100, maybe older. We use it all the time with benches on each side and chair at end. One bench is 11' and the other is some less than the table and came from a convent in Fort Smith, Ark.

The books were written by A.R. Harding. In later years he owned "Fur-Fish-Game" magazine which was published in Columbus Ohio. The books were sold in the book section of the magazine. I also have both books. I bought mine as a teen in the 50's.
So, how much did you have to pay?

Thanks for the photos of the table and it's history. My wife would "kill" for it! I hope she doesn't see it.

I had to pay a lot, a whole 2.00 each. These are some of the books I look for, and never have time to read. Not too many people look for books like this and someone gets tired hauling around, then they sell them. Don't really know the value, but I will keep them around. Thanks for the information about the magazine, I did not know that but would read everyone I could get when I was a kid.

Beautiful table! You might need the fox book techniques; around here (in town!) the red foxes have made quite a comeback, I even see them in the daytime. Good luck!
