So I don't know much about rabbits, but...

So, I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about rabbits, but this seems to be just a little bit out there.

Would someone REALLY pay $250 for a rabbit? And if so, WHY?

It does seem crazy but some of the people who are big in showing the rabbits do give that much money or more. You should see what some of the lionhead and holland lop breeders are getting right now, it's crazy.

I raise rabbits (don't show) but know some show people on lists and have known breeders that have payed as much as $400 for top show-quality breeding stock. It's like anything else, when you get into rare breeds, rare colors and winning show stock the prices get high.

Yes, people really do pay that much for TOP QUALITY show stock. My normal price for my show tans START at 100$ a head. The average price of an English or Giant Angora is 125$ and up.

However, I think those people got screwed. They don't even list a breed, and I don't believe any dwarf breed comes in that color. It is either a mutt, or a color cull.

I have a hard time getting a decent price for my rex. It all depends on what part of the country you are in and how good your marketing skills are. Seems pretty unfair don't it?

Too bad it wasn't purchased from me. I had a hard time getting $5 for pet quality rabbits.
Dd has one that looks a lot like it but is fuzzier, paid $7 for him.

Now if one of those fancy hutches was included it just might be worth close to that price.
