Planting Trees Near Water Well?

I'm planning for some spring tree plantings and wondered if it is ok to plant trees (pine/spruce and dogwood) in a section of the yard near our water well? There is a white pvc pipe that comes up out of the ground in that spot. Also, the geothermal furnace in our basement sits down in that same corner of the house, but I have no idea if any heating components also spread out into that section of the yard.

The well pipe pops out in the grass maybe 20 feet from the corner of the house. Any issues with tree roots around wells or geothermal? There is already one large, mature ornamental cherry planted there.

In a normal well, 30 feet or deeper, the spruce would not be a problem with roots getting into it.
However, if you need any well work done, you'll want to give the truck and workers room to work around the well. If you ever need to replace the pipe from the well to the house, you will not want spruce roots in the way.

As far as geothermal, the roots won't be a problem with your system. However, if you get a leak that requires digging up any of the hundreds of feet of plastic, you won't want an extra tree there. The mature Cherry tree was there first, so the pipes aren't unter it. With a sruce, you can't be sure.

If your geothermal system is the kind that pumps out groundwater and then discharges the groundwater back into its own drainfield, the trees could cause a problem in that drainfield.

Water supply and wells are essentials. Are the trees?
When in doubt don't! But that is just MHO
I like trees and would not want to have to dig through their roots in the future also.

Ok thanks. Will probably stick with a small Dogwood then. Was hoping a nice big spruce would work, but I guess I will have to compromise.
