What does this go to?

Got this at an antique store, its a lions head with one short piece of all-thread on the back.
Dealer wasn't quite sure what it was and said it may have been some type of handle for a wood stove.
It is cast iron and I happily paid 5 bux for it.

Can't quite tell, but it be a door knocker. Is there a space in the mouth for a ring?

No, its solid cast and was attached to something with the bolt threads on the back.

That is what I was thinking too. Half a door knocker actually. The part that is bolted to the door. The knocker portion being missing.

Great minds think alike... and that in itself is a scary thought

I do believe your correct, just looked up antique door knockers and there's a bunch of lions head knockers. Havn't matched this one exactly but gonna work on it. Thanx.

Doorknocker was my first thought too. Guess you're getting a consensus.
