Please help our school

My Daughter's Kindergarten class is celebrating Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. They will display a large map of the United States and are trying to fill it with post cards from all across America. We would like for those who live in different states (or even different countries)- Send us a post card. In the text box of the post card, write the title of your favorite children's book.

I will send a card from New York. Are you asking for the title of a Dr. Suess book, or just your favorite children's book??

Big Dave - Dr Suess' birthday is March 2. That's when they are going to put the postcards on a big map they're trying to fill.
Cheri, you can put both but they are asking for your favorite book regardless of author. It's meant to double as a project to help promote the kids to read more....

Thanks again everyone!

An update: I got this email today
Thanks again to everyone that helped!

Hi Everyone,
Thank you to everyone that has asked friends and family to send postcards to us. We have had the best time finding the states on the map and learning about the different landmarks from the state. We would love to try to get a postcard from every state.
These are the states that we are missing:
Alaska
Washington
Indiana
Arizona
Oklahoma
Illinois
Mississippi
Arkansas
Nebraska
Louisiana
Tennessee
Alabama
Vermont
Kentucky

If you have a friend or family in one of these states, please ask them to send us a postcard.
We are going to try to have the postcards on display in the library so that all of the students can enjoy seeing the,
Thanks so much for your help!
The Kindergarten Team

The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation
and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading

on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. The first Read Across

America event was held on March 2, 1998. The Kindergarten Team is working on a few

different events to celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday, and we

need your help! The Kindergarten team will display a large map of the United States in

the hallway and would like to fill it with post cards from all across America. So call your

friends and family who live in different states (or even different countries) and ask them

to send us a post card. In the text box of the post card, have them write the title of their

favorite book from elementary school.

The post cards can be addressed to:

Hardin Park Elementary School

361 Jefferson Rd.

Boone, NC 28607

We really appreciate your help with this activity!

The Kindergarten Team
