Question Help: water minerals & vaporizers

I have a brand new cool air vaporizer that I want to keep as mineral-free as possible. I wanted to just use distilled water in it but it seems to go through more water than I want to buy....so...is there anything I can put in my well water (it isn't terribly 'hard' and isn't heavy in iron) that will at least HELP with the mineral build up??? Maybe a little vinegar??? I am already adding a drop or 2 of Grapefruit seed extract to help with bacteria. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Here is a DIY site where you can learn how to catch distilled water that falls from the sky, AKA rain, or make your own water still to convert your hard well water to almost pure H2O.

Rainwater harvest

Water Distillation

Rain water! What a great idea! I will go see if my rainbarrels are thawed out enough to use. Good idea!

You could get one of those filters that fit on your kitchen faucet or use the water that drips off an air conditioner or a dehumidifier.
