anyone need a beautiful cat?

http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/73333

this is the breed of a big male cat that is living in our son's garage, arrived a few weeks ago and has been coming and going for a while..he is large, healthy and a good hunter, very loving and sweet and appears to be purebred..

We both have cats that would fight with him so we can't keep him..if he stays around we would love to find a home for him.

let me know if you know someone that might want him, he would be a super duper barn cat as he would keep any critters eaten

Have you seen him hunt? We just got a pretty little cat who does hunt, but another might be nice. Where in Michigan are you?

Back when I managed offshore pipeline projects, some of the boat crews were vietnamese and Thais. They were always interested in free dogs and cats.

The paint crews were mostly green card mexicans.....they liked them too. I guess anything tastes good when you put enough chili' sauce on it.

I think those are very expensive cats. Did you put an ad in the paper or on craigslist? You could probably charge a rehoming fee for it which might help it find a better home.

Maura I'm west of Lake city..it has been coming and going from our son's garage for a few weeks now..he will likely keep it if no one wants it as it is too precious to go to a pound...sometimes it isn't here so it is odds and ends if it would be here when someone came to get it..some people were here on Sun, but he was no where to be seen..figures.

I would take him in a hearbeat but, unfortunately Mississippi is a bit far from Michigan for a cat run

We would love an Ocicat, but it would have to live in the house and I'm not sure how it would get along with the cats we have. According to Google, you are over 400 miles from us, so I guess wouldn't be too economical to drive that far for a cat. Especially since knowing our luck it would be out for the day. Darn. I hope it finds a good home.

Kim is right, these are VERY expensive cats. It's doubtful this cat was dumped unless someone didn't want to get their $2000 bucks back. ($500 minimum!)

That is so tempting! You live to close for this kind of temptation.

Ronbre, my friend in Perry lost her beloved ocicat a few months ago, I'll ask her if she's interested. How far are you from Perry?

Beautiful cat! But we're full up here with six indoor and six outdoor pampered, not quite so pretty, cats...

I had an ocicat several years ago. Bought him at a cat show for about $300 as I recall. Note this was several years ago.

To be honest, I didn't care for his personality. Prior to buying him I had only had siamese or oriental shorthair cats, and like their personalities much better. My cats have only been housecats, and my current one, an oriental shorthair, is 16 years old now.

He's a beautiful cat but I have 2 outside kitty's already & hubby said no more. He really didn't want the 2 we have but the first one was a drop off I think & I thought he needed a friend so I got him one at the humane society. They still hate each other & it's been since this past September.

I just noticed this post. Maybe it still belongs to someone else since it comes and goes. I wouldn't give it away until I made sure it isn't a neighbor's cat.

Good point...if we do adopt this cat from Ronbre, we will return him to his rightful owners if they are found.

yeah we have been trying to find out, we know most of our neighbors quite well and don't really think it belongs to anyone around here, but as large as he is he could travel quite far, esp if the roads are plowed. I told Joel if he sees him let us know, Joel has a cousin moving in this weekend who will be home more (Joel works 12 to 14 hours 7 days a week)..so maybe we'll know more about where he is..he could be hunting when Joel goes to find him.
will up date here if I find that he is hanging around more full time now that we have snow.

According to Google I am 2 hours and 49 minutes from Lake City, 155 miles. That's not really doable right now. When the roads are clear, I'd still be interested. You might also contact the animal shelter and humane society to see if anyone has been looking for him. and the local paper, may have been an ad for him. I know I'd hate to loose a pet and never know what happened to him.

My mom had an ocicat about eight years ago that she got at the animal shelter. She was a cool cat, but I don't think she looked that much different than some tabbies I've seen. The cat she has now is definitely not an ocicat, but has markings that look just like them. Could it be possible that the cat just looks like an ocicat, but isn't? Just a thought... shouldn't make a difference to someone that wants a nice pet, but it might explaine why its just roaming around. I can't aimagine a $500+ cat would be outside ever.
