Thinking about haveing an Okla meetup/get together
Im 35 miles SW of Tulsa RIGHT on a state/county road. Im thinking of haveing it in april/may on a weekend of the majority chooseing. Any later and it would be HOT.
I would/should have my gardens planted by then, along with my corn and oat fields. I would have chickens, a couple goats, alot of rabbits, and alot of farm machinery to look at. Maybe a cow. The amenities wouldnt be any different I would think than the ones I attended on the Buffalo River in Arkansas.
What im needing to know, is, if there would be any amount of interest. IF SO, I wont burn my limb pile so that we would have something for a bonfire then. If no interest, then Ill burn it. We could also have horse shoe pitching, and maybe some archery practice.
It would be just for the weekend, Fri, Sat, Sun.

Since your that close to me, I'd might be interested. I never went to buffalo river cause they always had thiers too early also. If I'm not planting/working in my garden, then I'm usually trying to fill up my freezer with fish. So the buffalo river was at the wrong time of the year for me.
But since your so close to me, it would only take a hour or so to find your place. I might could catch a bucket of fish on my way over. How about a fish fry too?

Sounds interesting? Is this for any homesteaders or just Okies? That will be getting into storm time of the year! Might be interesting for some out-of-towners!

You could count me among the interested! I'm pretty new to homesteading, gardening and all of that. It would be good for me to see how it's supposed to be done! Timing is everything though.

I am interested - but it will depend on what else is going on for me that weekend. Also will depend on weather and how that affects what I need to be doing around here.

I'd be interested. I presume there will be camping space available? Google says it is 3 1/2 hours from my house. That would be a real nice bike ride

sounds better and better. Tho I know from going to a few of these, that 3 mos from the event, 30 people say they will attend. 2 mos from it 20 say they will attend, a month away 10 will guarantee THEYLL make it if nobody does. Day of the event, youll be lucky to see a 1/2 doz there.
Ive thought of gathering a little lumber to saw, and showing how a buzz saw works.

BUT UNDERSTAND, Ill be keeping the house close off.
Yes, there be places to park a doz or 2 cars. Places to camp out. BRING A LARGE tarp. for a ground cover. I have 2 goats. If the doe dont drop by spring, there headed to the sale and ill maybe have a cow then. BUT, I got goat berries all round the barnyard.

Is this a singles get-together or just a place for HTers to get together. There's absolutely no way my wife would come with me and I'm not sure I'd risk a solid 20 year marriage on the chance there are any cougars there!!!

You might want to put some thought into bathroom facilities if the house is going to be closed. I don't blame you, but it does bring up concerns for those of us that can't pee standing up
