Thumbs up Winters Wood

Since we moved here and we don't have trees for Fire wood I knew I could get a Permit to cut on Government Land.Well I seen several had been cutting over there so told my wife we better get a Permit.

Well its 60 miles to Forestry Office, had to go that way anyway.Talked with Forester.Told him what area we was in.He says well I really don't have anything that way,I guess I could get in and mark some about 6 miles from our place, asked if we needed Dry or Green? I told him it didn't matter because it wasn't going to be burnt until next year.

Then he asked if I knew of an area 25 miles away? Yea.Well we went in there did a thinning and just dropped Trees.I went on to tell him I knew exactly where he was talking about and was there the other day wishing I could get wood out of there that I thought it was a waste to just let the Trees rot.He says I can give you a Permit for there. But there is a Gate? Oh I'll give you a Key.

The way I understood the Permit was only good for 30 days and 3 Cord of wood.I asked him about it? Oh you can cut until Spring and all you want Just don't drive in there when its muddy.

We left my wife was unhappy because I didn't have him mark the trees closer to Home but like I told her get our boys over there and we can cut wood really fast. Then she goes on you know people cutting around us is doing it without a Permit? Yelp and if I was them I sure wouldn't want to get caught.

Positive reinforcement to follow the rules, I love it. Congrats !

Yesterday since it was such a balmy day here hubby went to a coworker's house and helped him fell 4 or 5 trees. Then they cut them to size & stacked for next year to be split. Storage isn't an issue @ his place so that's a real blessing in of itself.
The coworke,r well actually they are now both unemployed has a few acres out in the country. He keeps a very small garden, no fruit trees, no wood stove. Personally I don't get it but I am thankful for all the wood he has given us.

Isn't free or almost free heat wonderful!
