I feel dumb
I washed my carhart coats today. I have two. One is the 'old standby' that I have had forever. Kind of thin, full of holes, wouldn't let it go for nothin. The other I have had about a year. I pulled it out of the washer and the felting on the inside was covered with lint and hay chaff, a few burdocks and whatever else was in the pockets. So I put it in the dryer to try and get some lint off. Well, when I pulled it out of the dryer, most of it is still there. How the heck do I get it off? If I 'tape' the thing or use a sticky roller, I am afraid it will pull off a lot of the felting.
But thats not the dumb part. As I was picking off the bigger chunks after I pulled it out of the dryer, I suddenly realized it has both a velcro AND a zippered pocket on the inside. Two inside pockets! How could I ever have missed such a bonus! My old one doesn't have them. I've been wearing the thing for a year for pete's sake!

I just discovered an inside pocket on my coat I bought two weeks ago. It wasn't in the normal spot, kind of parallel to the zipper in the front. We had a little cubby in our car that we always forget about. If I put something in it, it will be lost forever!

One time I discovered a floor level dual cup holder in my new truck, after I had it 6 months. When I totalled it, and cleaned it out for the insurance company, I checked all the spaces and discovered a hidden 100$ bill in the sunglasses compartment. I had put it there a year before as emergency on a road trip and forgot about it. Bonus!

Oh, I did the same thing! Every spring when I go over to the island I stash some extra emergency cash in a hidden pocket in my suitcase. Two years ago I did that then I forgot about it - a $100 and two $50's that sat in the suitcase for a year until last spring when I was packing to go to the island again. I went to stash some money in that pocket and there was that $200 that I'd forgotten already in there. Bonus indeed !!

I would stash twenties rather than fifties or hundreds. Take up more room but easier to use. Not that I know from personal experience, of course.

I want to live where I can forget about an extra hundred or two just laying around. I really want to live there. Usually all I forget is my keys or to take out the trash.

No you don't. A hundred or two where I live won't buy you anywhere near as much as it does in USA. It's more like the equivalent of pocket change in USA.

Don't feel dumb because we can out-dumb ya. We had a coffee table for 3 years before we discovered that the top lifted up and there was storage underneath. It was only then that we remembered that the salesman did actually mention this feature to us. A joint memory lapse but you would think that in the number of times that table was moved around and dusted and polished one of us would have spotted the latch.

We had emergency cash stashed in several places Sadly we kept forgetting where it was so I wrote it down in code in our address book which is one of the things that I intend to never be without. Then we forgot the code. We found it all except for $100 so I finally sent a "treasure map" to my sister. Figured I would just call her and ask her when I needed emergency funds. Then it dawned on me that she might not be home when I was having an emergency. Now our emergency fund is stashed away in only one hiding place. Less safe but easier to remember.

I pulled out my "new" Carhart coat just recently, since my favorite one is no longer acceptable to wear in public, and found $65 in the inner pocket from a computer job I did last spring. Took the DW & DD, SIL, GS, & 2GD's out to dinner over Thanksgiving weekend. Easy come, easy go.

My dumb move was two years ago when I purchased a new leather chair. I looked at it in the showroom sat in it several times and went back the next day to buy it. I had a buddy help me get it home in the back of my truck and when we got it inside he sat in it and reclined in it. I did not know I had bought a recliner. It had no handle on the side and the salesperson did not mention it as a recliner chair.

Was it one of those kick ones? My mom had one and they eventually got rid of it because my step dad said it hurt his ankles.

DH once bought me a pair of camo. coveralls. They arrived right before we left for our hunt, so I didn't get to really check them out. DH, good man that he is, put my turkey tag in the coveralls for me. So when not one, but two game wardens showed up at camp, I knew they were in there but not where in there. DH was gone at the time. I finally handed over the coveralls to the older gw and he found the tag in the rear pocket with the ZIPPER! They got a good laugh over it and believe me I checked those coveralls out from stem to stern!

Are we supposed to worry about lint on our carhartts? Ouch! I find it embarrassing to go out in public in 'new carharrts'... I'll go out and do a day of logging or gardening, to break em in first!

Don't worry about the latter -- your wife will remind you!
