Anyone experiencing slow HT?

Is is just me or in the past month or so has HT really slowed down between screens and posts? I'm on a lightning fast connection that loads other websites really quick. On HT lately, when I click to read a post it sometimes takes 10 seconds to get there and another 10 seconds to back out of the post. Is it a local problem or are you guys having the same issues?

I don't think it's my connection because I can go to another forum or website and get quick results right after or right before slow HT performance.

I have intermittent problems with HT. Sometimes a thread won't load at all and the page will lock up. Then I have to close HT down and re-load it. Other times the whole forum is just really sluggish. This isn't a new problem for me, but lately it is happening more often.

Yes, very slow, have to hit the back button twice, or have to leave and then come back. I'm fine on other boards.

It's not HT.

It's the google ad's. If you look to the lower left hand corner while the page loads you will see it waiting for them.

Can you check the ad at the top of the page, once it loads? If the same one, or same type there might need to be a tweaking of the ad criteria and Chuck would have to know the specifics. Sometimes the ads change/update and takes something like this to bring it to the notice for tweaking.

Not saying this is it, but it could be a contributing factor.
Also, posting same question in Computer forum should get you much better information.

Angie, I've found it to be slow during big news days and such. I think it's simply google adsense.

Ever try to load Google finance on a day when the market is down big? It gets SLOW. Will even crash Internet explorer, Firefox will wait.. wait.. then load a blank.

You asked if HT was slow. Shame on you. The PC question is HT challanged.

It's the bloody ads.... I access using a smartphone, and at times it's next to impossible because it takes too long for the flash based ads.

Same here and a lot of times something didn't load and it gets real slow, have to go away and come back. Sometimes 2 or 3 times....James

Ive been loading and downloaded programs and switching connections, & anti-virus programs around on mine the last couple of days, I figured it was due to that, or I picked up a virus, as everything is running slow on mine.

Lots of times it is so slow, I just leave and go on to one of my other forums. I've got better things to do than to sit and watch the little whirligig going around and around while nothing happens on the computer screen.

At 1 AM, Pacific time, it won't connect at all. It's so consistent that I assume there is some sort of website servicing going on at that time.

Also, very annoying to type out an answer and then not have the site post it.

This past week has been the worst for me in a very long time. I access HT from the Public Library where I work. It can take 5-10 minutes to get on to the site, and then up to 5min to get onto a thread. I often do something else while waiting...like help a patron!

As mentioned above, I'm noticing lots of "waiting on http/googleads" followed by a whole row from left to right with a bunch of caps letters at the lower left of the screen when I'm clicking from thread to thread. It didn't used to be like this and I'm computer illiterate enough to not understand what changed! I will say after being used to extremely high speed from work and not having to wait on anything EVER to download it tries my patience!!!lol

Yep, if I'm up late, I don't even try getting on.

Yes it's slow. I complained about this weeks and weeks ago on the computer thread.

Somedays I get disgusted and don't visit HT because it's slow.

I know that one person's views don't mean diddly. I'm just sayin'.
