Do it yourself resume....

Does anyone here know of a website where one can find a resume format to use as a style pattern? Need to learn what is the current preferred way to present applicant information. Yep, I have been out of the hunt for a long time, voluntarily left a job of 24 yrs. thanks..............Margo

Also if you have Microsoft Word 2002 there is resume wizard. Makes it real easy.

For style and content ideas, check these sites out:

http://www.rockportinstitute.com/resumes.html#socks

http://www.provenresumes.com/reswksh.../befaftex.html

The second link is pretty much a sales letter site, but offers a really effective several pages-long "workshop" in what does and doesn't work. Just skim past the sales stuff (on this first page, start reading under the horizontal line, right below where it gives the "next workshop | previous workshop | table of contents" links. Read til they start selling again (after the "after" resume examples) and go back up and hit 'next workshop'. Rinse, repeat. I think there are twelve parts to the workshop, but don't quote me.

state workforce commission

If you are close to a town that has a Workforce Commission, you can go down
there and use their computer and software template. There is also a person
there who can guide you along. I also looked through sample resumes and
copied an objective I used in the beginning of my resume. It was so easy.
I also printed it on resume paper they provided.
