why do they think that today is Halloween

Don't people have calendars any more? why do they think they can move holidays around at a whim...we don't get the paper and no one says anything on the news..so is Halloween on Halloween or today??

guess I don't care as we don't get any tricker treaters anyway..but good grief why are they allowed to move holidays on a whim??

TOMORROW is All Hallows Eve. You can't change that any more than you can change Christmas.

Oh, wait....

it's tomorrow, but I had one group already this evening. Told them it wasn't until tomorrow. I guess they think they can get twice the candy. Some churches in this area are having trunk or treat tomorrow.

We had ours Saturday, Combined Trunk and Treat with games and a social/potluck.
I personally think thats the best way to do it, we'll leave the lights off as usual.

Several of my FB friends are asking "Anyone know when Halloween is??

We're going trick or treating tomorrow, so if the date got moved, guess I'll feel silly.

Went to Kmart today......all Halloween costumes & decorations 50%-75% off, candy marked off 25% already.

I know! I noticed that at Target last year. And if you walk too far into the jungle of costumes, you suddenly find yourself surrounded by Christmas lights. It seems like they are tired of holidays now before they actually take place.

All the communities around us change their trick or treating nights, so we 'could' trick or treat 4 or 5 different times if we wanted to. We do have one town that we do go to every year, its always the wedsday before Halloween, its very small town, lots of kids, everyone sits out on their porches, its like it was when I was a kid. Its great just in case Halloween gets rained out or snowed out, my kid has at least gotten to trick or treat once. The one I don't get is the town that has T&T on sunday between 2-5, thats no fun!!

In some communities we have lived in they change trick-or-treating to another date- to keep the little kids safe and off the street when the bigger kids are out making trouble. Also- getting them all off the street at a time when the police can identify trouble makers easily.

Our county is observing Halloween tomorrow night. Our light will be off and I don't have any candy ready so I hope no one shows up! I'll have to swing by Kmart and check out the costume markdowns! Those make good dress-up clothes Christmas presents.

DD mentioned a Harvest Festival at their church, which I assume was tonight, not sure though. We've always lived so far out that we never have trick or treaters.

All of our new neighbors seem to be grandparent age like us, so doubt we will have any here at our new place either. If we do, I'll just have to break into DH's chocolate stash!

Around here they have moved it. Some years they put it on a Friday or Sat so kids arnt all jacked up on candy through the week. Latly including this year they are doing it tommorrow, or at least on a week day. many rumers are to avoid the peiople drinking and driving while going to halloween parties.

I think I heard there is a movement to not have Halloween on a specific date the 31st.
But making it on the last Saturday of the month regardless what day the 31st falls on.

Maybe we should petition to have Christmas rescheduled every year to the nearest Saturday to the 25th of December

sure enjoyed all the comments that I got from this thread..wow..so fun.

speaking of things being on sale before the holiday...I'm hoping that happens at thanksgiving !! I saw some really cute pumpkin dishes I'd like to have..to put stuff in for fall..or as decor..of course I seldom decorate on holidays anyway..anymore..and haven't had a trick or treater here in a dozen years or more unless a friend stops by with one of their children..always have a few full size candy bars around just in case, if no one shows they'll still get eaten.

I've already been asked if I thought we were going to have service this Dec. 25th. We'll have just had the Christmas Eve service the night before, and some people don't want to interrupt Christmas morning. I'm in the Choir and could use a good rest after the Christmas season, but come on! I just say "I'm not skipping it. We'll miss you, though."
