Buying Shock Absorbers

We blew a seal on one of the farm trucks front shocks the other day (they are 10 years old and have lots of hard miles on them) and I was thinking new shocks would be in the $80.00 to $125.00 range each but we got a pleasant surprise.

At Oreilly's we found Monroe gas-matic shocks for our 3/4 ton 4x4 GMC for $43.00 each and if you bought 4 you got a $25.00 rebate. These arent top of the line shocks but they are good shocks I have used for years and the rebate is good through the end of this month. Its not often I find out my estimate was way high on prices but it sure is a good feeling.

Shock Absorbers on the farm truck? Now that's uptown right there. Half the fun of a farm truck is pogoing across the hayfield while your head is bouncing off the cab roof.

We are doing plenty of that but our farm truck hauls equipment trailers and hay and the front tire is starting to check....we are feeling right good about and I am pretty sure I will be able to hold a coffee cup without coffee flying all over from the shimmy now!

It's not just the personal comfort level. Those shocks will save a lot of "wear-and-tear' on the truck and tires. That $150 will save you that much in other damages during the life of the shocks. Consider it an investment, not an expense.
