Question Repair of galvanized & rusty feeder?

I picked up one of those big, 12-hole round outdoor galvanized hog feeders at an auction. The bottom is rusty and has a few holes in it. I've cleaned it out, and am wondering what is the best way to go about patching the bottom up so it's safe for the pigs to eat out of plus doesn't lose feed?

I have a roll of aluminum flashing, could I epoxy that in the bottom?

Should I try using some of that auto body bondo stuff instead?

Other ideas or tips?

You could rivet or bolt the flashing in place if the flashing is thick enough to take the abuse of the feeding hogs. Otherwise buy some galvanized metal to replace the bottom.

That will work, but I'd spray it with rusty metal primer first to stop the rusting

Fiberglass works well for that if you know how to work it. Pretty simple actually.

the very bottom of those are useually stainless. don't worry about the holes, what little feed gets wasted through them won't matter. the pigs will spill more than what will come out the holes your talking about. set it on a concrete pad so they can clean up what spills. don't fill it full until you get used to how the feed will feed, i've had to shovel a few out because the feed would not go down. the more alfalfa in the mix the harder it is to feed. reach into the feed holes every so often and make sure the feed is not compacted and you will be fine.

I have had 5 of these and looked at many more at actions. A rotted out bottom is something they all had in common.I agree with fishhead (that would be a first) and rancher.
