Calcification in joints
Not sure where else I should post this.
My husband has recently been complaining of pain in his joints, says I need to look it up online. Today he came home with the idea that he is drinking too much of our raw milk. Could this be his problem?

Look up pseudogout. But it's not from the raw milk.

Too much milk might give you kidney stones. Old age is what gives you calcium in your joints. It's called arthritis.

Joint pain can be all kinds of things. Stress, overweight, too much lifting, on to pretty serious illnesses. He really needs to see a doctor. Looking up joint pain on the Net won't be a lot of help to him. Not generally that good an idea to try to self-diagnose, and especially with something open like "joint pain". Good luck.

I'll second that "joint pain" can be caused by a lot of different things. A rheumatologist and a chinese practitioner would be my choice (both, not just one). IIRC calcification is a result of injury more than an excess of calcium, but he doesn't even know if that is a factor, so discussing it is premature.

DH developed severe osteoporosis of the spine over a decade ago and was totally disabled and pretty much bedridden. He's been healed up enough to get totally off pain pills, surgery and doctors appointments for the last eight years just by increasing hydration with pure water (not mineral water) and raw milk. He still has to be careful about lifting and standing too much, especially on cement, but he's able to at least control his pain level sufficiently.

During my 1st shoulder surgery the doc filed off a large spur that was more painful than a torn rotator cuff. Now I have a large HeelSpur and have managed to keep the pain under control with the shoes that I wear.

It's not the milk.

I don't know about that.
I started having some severe pain in my shoulders, and I stopped drinking milk as often as I had been, and the pain went away in a couple of weeks.

If it is the milk, a magnesium supplement would likely offset the mineral imbalance. I still suggest a pro or two checking it out.

My husband was raised on a small dairy. He has the most horrible arthritis and gout a human can have,
We have decided some people cannot tolerate lactic acid, him especially. He has to eat yogurt to help buffer the medicines he takes, but drinking milk sends him into massive flares.
Do a study, with controls, experiment with yourself and hubby. Milk vs no milk.

Look up alternatives for arthritis. He may need a vitamin C supplement. He may not be digesting the milk properly. He may need a niacinamide supplement. Dr. William Kaufman (1910 - 2000) discovered that B3 dramatically restored joint motion in his patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and other joint diseases. He prescribed up to 5,000 mg daily, divided in several doses. Seems like a lot, but you'd have to take over 200,000 mg to overdose. It is also used to reverse Alzheimer's.

I think I’ll try the Magnesium. I already told him to STOP drinking soda! He is SO hard to make eat healthy. He doesn’t want to go to the doctor, because, the reason he is drinking the milk, is because it keeps him OFF his NEXUM. The doctors just wanted to keep giving him a pill. SO, I got him off the pill, and reflux free, after having been on prescriptions for over 7 years.
Thanks for all the info. and I think I’ll do some more research on these subjects and try a little at a time. I’ll let ya know how it goes! Thanks

On the soda - some of them contain phosphoric acid, some don't. The ones without it are less of a problem. Carbonated water (seltzer) - NOT club soda made with sodium bicarbonates - is innocuous. In checking around and asking a number of different alternative practitioners, the ONLY thing that has even been mentioned in passing is the slight increase in CO2 in the blood might mimic the effects of exercise. Seltzer water and a splash of citrus juice is an acquired taste, but far more healthy and refreshing than many of the sodas.

It's not like it's a problem for him to stop drinking it for a while and see if the pain stops.

How old is he? When I got old some years ago (now 62) I started feeling some pain in my knees and hips. I was giving my old dog glucosamine & condroitin pills for his joint pain. It was helping a lot. So I got a human version of the same thing and started taking a one every day or two. Joint pain gone. This was really important for me because I do a lot of hiking.
And of course, eating right (especially little or no soda pop) just makes sense.

I really don’t know why I even try! He is 43 now, he has had knee pain before and we went and got him the glucosamine pills. He JUST won’t keep up with taking them. I went to the butcher shop today and bought some beef bones so I can make some beef broth for him to drink. BUT, he’s like a two year old, if I don’t put it in a bottle for him and hand it to him, he won’t take it EVERY day! MEN!................

Stop trying! He's not hurting bad enough. When DH, a physician who was taught NOTHING about nutrition and natural health maintenance, was stuck in bed for months with severe back pain and the medical community could do nothing for him, he finally was open to learning the truth. He finally learned enough of the truth about hydration and eating properly that he was able to get totally off pain medications and out of the physician's offices and hospital admissions (and he hasn't seen a physician or been in a hospital for about nine years now).
You can lead a 'horse' to water, but you can't make him drink....
