Washington State: Can wood cook stoves be shipped here?

Do any dealers/manufacturers ship wood cook stoves to WA?

Most companies ship here. IF you can afford the freight.

Madame, I'd suggest checking our craigslist before you order something new. I've found quite a few good deals recently and I'm thinking of collecting a few such stoves.

No, absolutely no wood cook stoves for Washington. NO NO NO! Why would you even want a stove when you could have this Canadian stuffed porcupine thats over 40 years old.

Nice porcupine! Everyone should have one of those. My cat would love it.

I am not opposed to an antique stove. My husband restored our current heating stove. I like the old Waterfords.

I also have a question about asbestos: What span of years was it used in stoves? Or was it?

I was curious about shipping - I see some dealers online have notices about not selling/shipping to WA. I'd like to hear experiences around this.

Google "Washington wood stove emissions" for websites explaining your state's very strict rules, and a list of wood stoves certified for use. The companies you have seen saying "no shipments to Washington" can't meet the legal emissions standard there. Unfortunately, you might have a very hard time finding anything wood-fired for cooking that can be installed legally today.

I suspect that Silver Vista is correct. In Oregon, any stove must meet EPA emission standards before it can be installed. Washington state is probably the same.

Off topic, but I think that you can install a genuine antique cooking stove that doesn't meet emission standards in Oregon, but I wouldn't buy the stove without verifying that.
