The Freeze

Well, hat was a pretty good and widespread freeze last nite. From my contacts on other forums, a lot of beans got damaged. About 1/2 of mine were very green, and smell like silage now. I don't know if they will mature to something that can be harvested or not> The other 1/2 are going to be dinged, but should still be some sort of a crop.

I'm about average for my area.

The grain trade reacted to world ecconomic news today. If the folks in Chicago saw my beans, they would bid the prices up up up....

Even the corn is lightly hurt. Some was still milky, while I will get corn out of it it will stay wet & be very light test weight.

Something to think about..... I don't know if the grain markets are going to pay attention to world ecconomics or supply & demand, but I think there is a little less supply today than we thought we had yesterday....

There was an inch of snow early this morning at a good snowshoe hare hunting spot. It was all gone by 10 but I hope it makes them turn white early. They look obvious when they are wearing white too early.

The silage smell doesn't sound good, mine never would grow or even mature after that, but I hope the dinged ones come out of it for ya.
