Smile What kind of stove is this?????

Ok I saw this stove quite some time ago on a "real esate for sale" posting and saved it as I thought it was a very cool looking stove. Just came back across it and thought I would ask if anyone knew what brand/kind it actually was? It's awfully fancy looking!!

I love the tile they put behind it too.

It's a parlour stove. It looks like it may be a Crawford antique woodstove that's been re-finished.

Crawford stoves were heavy on the chrome and the topper on that one looks similar to the chrome toppers that Crawford put on theirs. Crawfords were made by the Walker & Pratt Mfg. Co. located in Boston MA.

It might also be a "Good Cheer" parlour stove, manufactured by the Jas Steward manufacturing company. The windows in it are sheets of mica. Here is a picture of Good Cheer one similar to the one you pictured with the mica windows.

Looks very similar to this Wherle. Slightly different, but a lot of similarities.

Looks like they refer to these stoves as "base burner" stoves.

It does look like the Wehrle more than anything else. What a gorgeous stove, eh?

I don't know the brand but we've always called them parlor stoves, and that one certainly looks Victorian era. Very pretty.

I have one that my mom gave me when they cleaned out my grandmother's attic. My mom remembers being small and helping grandma clean all the chrome (don't really know if that is what all the fancy work is made of). I'm thinking of replacing my living room stove with it. It is in perfect shape except for the chrome being chipped in places and discolored. I have a really small house and my mom told me that it heated their fairly large living room, dining room and small bedroom just wonderfully. The stove I have here now has all the fancy doors and just too many places for heat to escape so it has to be loaded about every four hours. My mom seems to think this one will last a lot longer on a load of wood. All the mica is intact, I would just like to get the fancy work replated. I have been looking on the net to try to find places close that will replate it...so far, no luck. If I actually get it hooked up, I will post pictures.
