My high temp scrapping experiences are limited to the making of aluminum, zinc and lead ingots. I do occasionally melt and pour my own brass brazing rods.
One time, I did melt a batch of #2 copper in attempt to make a #1 ingot.
Took an awful lot of heat.....would not recommend it.
The mechanical separation of most metals still pays well, if you can get the raw materials.

I was thinking if one were to use pennies for example, and bathe them in a sodium solution and charge them it would separate the zinc from the copper.
Kind of like electroplating, using pennies as the anode. It wouldn't be profitable if you were to use power from the electric company or a genset, but a small RV solar panel would work; granted it would be a slower process.
I wonder if this would work for other combo's as well.
