What can I plant??

I didn't get a garden in this spring....what can I plant now for this fall?
I'm in NW Ohio. Can I plant beans? peas? lettuce? Or is it too hot yet for that stuff?

peas, lettuce ,spinach, swiss chard, kale, beets, carrots, parsnips, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage. These all keep doing well when it starts turning chillier. Now is the time to start them. You could also maybe get in some garlic and onions still.

if you can shade their spot, you might be able to start the lettuce, spinach, etc. Look at garden centers for broccoli, cabbage, kale, etc plants.

Silly question..... what are/how do you grow green onions? I always thought green onions were just very small onion sets picked early. But they aren't, are they??

Green onions are also called scallions or bunching onions. It will say on the seed packet.

almost everything..except no corn or long season growing things..look at the back of the package and look for the days to maturity..if they are less than 90 you should be able to plant them in your area..all greens grow so much better in fall as do coles, carrots, beets, etc.

I guess I didn't hit the post button earlier.

Too hot yet for spinach, radishes or lettuce. You'll need to wait for mid to late September for those.

Peas, last year I planted them right on schedule. the first ones burned up, even in the shade and watered regularly. The second planting sprouted and grew to 2 inches then set there until late October when they finally grew and flowered. But the day after Thanksgiving arrived with below freezing temps, wind and snow/sleet. Didn't let up until late December and by then the plants were frozen pea hay. I'll be trying Wando this year. Hopefully Wando will do better.
