Meet & Greet, Twin Tiers--CNY & NEPA
Come join us at a get together on Sept. 17 at noon at the Lackawanna State Park, off Exit 199, Interstate 81. It is between Binghamton (NY) and Scranton (PA) and everyone is invited, especially Central New York and Northeast PA folks.
Homesteaders (and wannabees) and preppers are invited along with their families. This is a low budget (no budget) thing, so each family should brng their own picnic lunch and drinks.
No particular discussion topics are scheduled. It is just a place/time to meet and get acquainted with others. Later gatherings may be scheduled, depending on the turnout and similar interests.
RSVP to dingbatinPA at gmail.com, so that we have an idea of how many to expect. Hope to see you there.

You know that's the same day as Smith's get together in Clear Creek, PA. Planning two events for the same day so close together will split the crowd and result in low turn outs I expect.

Not necessarily. I would not have driven 4 hours to the gathering in Clear Creek, but I'll happily drive the 75 minutes to Lackawanna! I'm going to put in a request for that day off, I should have no problem with that. Count me in! Thanks for putting this together!

I'm sorry you are having a conflict with that date, roachhill. I think people will go to what is closest to them, and would prefer to get to know people closer to their own home(stead). PA is a big state. I would not go to the other one as it is just too far away to travel when there are animals at my own place to take care of.
If you cannot make it this time and would like to be informed of a second gathering, please use the email address as noted in the OP and say that you'd like to be contacted when a second date is set.
HTD: It'll be great to see you again. I hope you can get the day off work.

I'm looking forward to attending Annie.
The park has easy access and is centrally located for the area.
Points in PA.
From the NEPA valley cities and Pocono folks it's less than a hour.
1 1/2 from the Danville/Sunbury.
It's around 2 hours travel from Allentown / Bethlehem and Pottsville areas.
Points in CNY...
From Binghamton it's about an hour.
From Monticello/Port Jervis It's an hour and a half.
North Jersey folks.
From Monticello/Port Jervis 1 1/2 hours.
From Delaware Water gap 1 1/4 hours.
There is camping available if some folks wish. There are grills and picnic tables.
Fishing for the kids and licensed Adults. The fishing is considered good.
Here is a link to the Parks web site.

As far as the meet and greet in western Pa. I hope they have lots of people in attendance... I hope a bunch come to the get together in NEPA as well.

Count me in! I also wished I could attend the gathering in Clear Creek, but after googling directions I found to be just too far. Lackawanna State Park is ten minutes away!

Dh and the little ones definately, whether or not the older kids will attend will be determined by their work schedules. I'll have a better idea about that in the first week of september.
Anything I can do to help?

Thanks, Peace n Quiet, but there is nothing to do. Each person is responsible for food/drinks for their own household. Will be in touch here, as the time gets nearer...

I won't be able to attend but I had to chime in about PA being a big state. Anytime we've taken a road trip to Philadelphia, I always marvel at how it doesn't take very long to get there from Central NY. However, the first time that we took a road trip to North Carolina, It took FOREVER to get out of Pennsylvania. It isn't just big... It's HUGE!!!!!

I doubt it. Most people aren't going to want to travel more than 2 hours or so - or at least I wouldn't think. I'm guessing whichever get together is closer for a person is the one they would go to if so inclined.
Good luck with your get together.

I ask Rand McNally online and he says I'm exactly 108.8 miles from both events what are the odds, LOL. What's your next suggestion on choosing.

Ask everyone here. Why should you pick one over the other? You'll get honest, real answers.

Thanks, Michael.
Roachhill...flip a coin? I guess you should check some past posts of those responding to each event...and decide which people have more in common with you.
