Red light Camer\ticket bump your insurance , UP ??

..............I just paid my first ,and only (I hope) red light ticket , was $75 To city of Ft. Worth ! Curiously , my insurance went up by $6 amonth , no explanation .......that isn't supposed to happen ! I'm going by S.Farm sat. AM and ask why my INs. went up . , fordy

There was a report on the news last night that these cams were increasing the # of rear end crashes significantly at the intersections where they're installed. Apparently folks are locking it down to avoid a cam ticket and the cars behind them simply don't have room to stop.

You are likely losing a "good driver" discount that some insurance companies give their drivers.

Receiving any kind of moving violation is documented evidence that you are not a good driver, hence the loss of the discount.

In my case, the loss of the discount was substantial, almost 1000$ per year. I switched insurance providers and went to traffic school after that experience.

Even if it did raise your rates, it wouldn't kick in until your insurance renewed. Yea, you have to watch those red lights. I think I'm the only one in the house that hasn't gotten one, but they say I drive like an old woman.
