Looking for OHIO Homesteaders

Hello All,
I am new to this site. Was wondering if there were any from Ohio? Interested in meeting like minded individuals and families. Myself and others are tossing around the idea of a eco-village, intenional community kinda of thing. Any input would be welcome.

Thanx

Greets burroaktrapper,

We are in NE Ohio.

The closest I've come to an intentional community though is letting people know about land for sale in the immediate area around our farm in Carroll County.

Last year we had a nice little get together in Geauga County. I'm hoping we do another one this year.

Mike

NW Ohio here in the shadow of the Davis-Besse nuke plant. Welcome to visit but I think I'll stick to my own farm.

Welcome, Burroaktrapper! We're in NE Ohio. Best of luck with your ECO community search. I haven't heard of any local ones. Hopefully when we can all dig out from under this ice, we can have another get together. Mike, keep us posted, or let me know if you need anything. I would love to come this year!

Hello all,
Glad to see there are a few Buckeyes around here. Well about the IC thing, it would be more like intentional neighbors. Each go into an area and buy parcels next to each other, help each other build homes and such. Also could run homestead based business together that sort of thing.

I live in faifield county for the moment. My wife and i have been waiting the winter out here. Spring is in the air. We r interested in buying some secluded acreage. We have seen several parcels in Athens co. as well as Morgan Co. We both love this area. Meigs co. looks good too. Anyone got any links to land availble on land contract. Say down southeast way.

I lived in Blue creek, Ohio. near shawnee ridge.

my email is burroaktrapper@yahoo.com is also my screen name for yahoo. if any of you want to contact me.

We're in northern Jefferson Co.(100 acres mostly wooded). Not too far from the folks in Carroll Co. In the past ten years the Amish have been snapping up all of the land, however, they seem to be slowing down now. Overall we are happy here.

Welcome! We have been here in Monroe county in SE OH since 1994, our county has all of 20,000 folks in it, and plain land can still be had for under a 1000 an acre, livable homes/farms with some acreage for under 69,000, you can visit land/farm websites at www.swisslands.com , www.fliehman.realty.com , www.brunerland.com , they have the most land available through land contract.

The Amish have been migrating here from Holmes county since our acreage is so cheap, but still within buggy distance of small stores and feedmills.

Hello from Arlington, OH, in Hancock Co, NW Ohio! Glad to see so many other Buckeyes around here! We piddle around our 6 acres, though the city folks are moving in around us, buying ground and putting up $250,000 houses...kinda sucks! Thats life, though, I guess...:-)

We're from Adam's county Ohio, near West Union, in Winchester. We have 15 acres where we raise horses, honeybees (hence the name of the farm), Great Pyrenees, chickens, sheep, a few cattle, turkeys, guinneas, and waterfowl. We have a nice fruit tree and berry bush orchard, and a large garden. DH has a small sawmill and he cuts all of our lumber, and our firewood too. I can/freeze/dehydrate, make soap and candles, and love to garden! I love Adam's county and can't think of ANYTHING that would entice me to move!

Greetings from another Buckeye! Welcome to the forum. We're in Washington County, northern corner. There are listings for real estate in this county at the sites someone above noted. We're happy on our rolling acreage, with lots of hardwood and deer. Not long ago, we were planning a move south, but since have reconsidered. Good to know there are quite a few locals represented here. Good luck in your search. ............Margo

I live in SE OH...in Meigs Co. It is a very bad, terrible place so visitors should stay away! <wink> Yes...real estate is very affordable here. I live on ten acres and raise dairy goats.

I know of a group that has Intentional Community plans in the Athens area. Look up Greenfire on the www. Contact the Hogan family. I know them through a dairy goat club. Nice folks. They've (Greenfire and the Hogans) have been working on sustainable housing lately.

Greetings,
Sounds like we're your closest neighbor just down 33 across the county line. Good luck land shopping, we purchased the last cheap 80 in this area (and still paying for it). Nothing sustainable here, we just love our critters and making our own food from scratch.
