Wow, sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time with FF5. I started using it about 9 months ago and I really like it. i didn't have any trouble transferring my favorites, it did it automatically for me, just asked me if I wanted them transferred. I really like it a lot better than IE. I find it to be much faster than IE. I really don't have any suggestions, but believe me I do feel your pain, brother. I"ve been there before with computer problems. Computers are nice, as long as they are working.

We have it on 3 machines at home, 2 Vista and 1 XP, no problems with it at all.

I didn't like 4.0 and went back to a 3.7 or 3.8, finally went to try 4.0 again and 5.0 was there. Now 5.0 is working just fine with windows xp pro.
everything I had in the 3.versions I have in the 5.0 version. The icon for home and refresh in a different position, but I'm working with it.

On my macbook , I am wondering if that is what is causing my email problems. I have a gmail account so I can access it where ever I happen to be. But I have been having no end of problems just trying to get on my account and sometimes I cannot. But there are those that would say it is because it is a mac........ But it started after the Firefox update

fordy or someone, just what is Foxfire? Is it something better? Also would someone be kind enough to tell me how to move a thread quote to a message I am going to send? I have tried the copy and paste, maybe not doing it right. Thanks!

firefox is a alternative browser. I prefer it as you have more control over how it functions and is a bit more secure than explorer.

.....................FFire is a free alternative too Internet Explorer ! There is a version 3.8xx , and 4.0 and now 5.0 ! It is very popular because it is a lot easier too use than IE explorer . I'd suggest you download the older version number like 3.8xx , and I'm assuming you're running Windows Home Xp ! There are much smarter people on here who can advise you better than I . , fordy

If this is what your talking about, just go to the persons reply that you would like to quote in your reply and hit the Quote button in their reply box/area and a Reply to Thread text box will appear for you and it will have the quote that you asked for.

Also if the persons quote contains text you would like to remove to simplify then just delete those words.
But don't touch the [.QUOTE=persons name] at the beginning and the [/QUOTE] at the end or the computer will get real ----ed off
jim

Anybody catch that I had to add a .(period) before first [QUOTE because if I didn't the computer would get real ----ed off.

I upgraded and it sucks. Got my mice all screwed up. Half the time they don't work. 1.5 was as FF ever got. I would love to find a decent browser that you didn't have to fool with half the time. Tried Opera they don't pay attention to US. Chrome no go Flock is gone. Safari is no good. i'm hard on them 10 tabs + when I use them. FF is using more and more CPU so i suppose those that have newr machines will have less problems. I can buy IBM think pads for 100-150 bucks so I'm in no hurry to shell out 600-1000 for a new one.

I upgraded, and it screwed up my computer so badly that I had to take it to a geek to get it cleaned up. He couldn't get it to behave in my user log in, so we had to create a new one and move stuff over.

TOTAL PAIN IN THE PATOOKIS and no help on their website.
