Talking I'm Pregnant!!!!! ?????

So I'm actually pregnant!! Really really cool!!! Not far along (we'll find out more next week at the ultrasound). DH and DSIL and my Mom have all decided that I'm practically on bedrest..... They decided this all on their own..... I actually got yelled at for unloading the dishwasher last night

Questions:
I know they're all excited and their hearts are in the right place but why can't I carry a feedbucket and take care of my chickens and rabbits and why can't I clean the house????? I did it all yesterday before we found out I was pregnant and I'm still prego...... How long is this going to last???? The animals have always been my responsibility and I enjoy taking care of them.... The housework DH can have.... lol

First Congrats!

Second, you should be able to keep doing what you normally do right up till its time. If you are use to it...it won't hurt you...of course you may towards the end have to lessen the load in the buckets and make several trips.

You should have heard my first husband we were visiting at the ranch and I got on one of the horses and rode!

My major 'backup' for that was actually my grandmother, who snorted (delicately of course) and said she used to bring in the milk cows horseback until she couldn't fit in the saddle anymore!

This will wear off soon enough. Good time to get your fences repaired, garden weeded, etc. You can "supervise"

Wonderful news!! Listen to your body and your intuition - you will know when to rest more (you may need to nap!) and as Rocktown Gal said when to divide up your "usual" load into smaller, lighter bits. There are many good books and of course your medical professionals to educate you - but you know your body best.

In my experience with DD and now her babies, the more active and stronger you remain (within the bounds of how you feel and good sense) the better you will be able to labor, deliver and recover and withstand the intensity of the first three months postpartum. I'm so happy for you and your family - what an exciting time .

What did you break something so you can't do anything? I always figure pregnant can do twice the work

In truth just watch it my first wife was helping me milk and got kicked in the stomach and lost the baby but she was due one time out digging potatoes.

Congrats.

Unless you have underlining medical issues that keep you bed bound (I HAD to be bedrest) than it is actually better for you and the baby and will make labor easier if you keep working. Good muscle tone aids in healthy bellies and you'll be happy you did after the baby comes because it'll help you lose the baby weight after if you keep up your daily routine.

Of course the first month or two you'll find yourself sleeping 18hrs a day but get up and get moving in between. Let the DH do the house chores though, he'll only appreciate you more when he realizes how much work it really is.

Congrats! My DH just looked at me and said "There's nothing wrong with you, you're just pregnant" When he tried that during the severe morning sickness he almost died. If I could have got away from the bucket, he would have...

His mom had 10, first 5 at home, so no pampering there LOL

Baby yourself the first half and then gradually work your way back to this level in the second half...with any luck the hard work will bring him/her on a week early!

Congratulations!!!

Maybe their coddling is just their way of feeling like they are doing their part to take care of you. They'll get over it (hopefully soon) and let you have some of your chores back. Especially after a good, clean bill of health from the OB.

If there is no medical reason or health concern associated with your normal day to day routine, then it would be in your body's best interest to continue as normal (obviously omitting things-common sense stuff-you know you shouldn't). Your taking care of the animals and such falls into your "exercise" and "well being" categories and everyone knows it is important to maintain exercise and positive well-being when pregnant. Re-evaluate your limits as you go along and as your body and hormones change.

Congratulations again!!!

What delightful news!

I agree with everyone on 'chores as usual' EXCEPT no cleaning the kitty litter box. I forgot why, someone else please enlighten. I just remember it's a big no-no during pregnancy.

Contests! Milk it for now. You can, however cause harm to the baby if you mess with kitty litter so you shouldn't change it even if you'd thinking about getting pregnant.

Of course you can do all those things. Tell them to buzz off and leave you alone!
