Chipmunks!!

My neighbor called this a.m. & said all her green bean plants are missing in the garden. She noticed a chipmunk running around in the garden and figures that they are the ones getting her plants. She's tried rat traps to catch them, but that has not helped Besides shooting them, does anyone have any other ideas to get rid of the chipmunks? Thanks for any help

We don't have chipmunks in my immediate area but I do have squirrels...far too many of them. Because we live in a city, it is illegal to discharge a firearm, too. I use a rat poison called Havoc. It is little blue-green pellets and I put it in sandwich bags and set them in the trees. The squirrels really seem to enjoy my little snacks of love until they keel over and die. I know a lot of folks don't like using poison, but squirrels are smart and learn too quickly what a havahart trap is. If you decide to use poison, be responsible about it and make sure that it is someplace where domestic animals won't accidentally get into it.

Chipmonks,, I think they are the animals that curl up at the back door and die, all by themselves. lol
My daughters cat was left here two years ago and has demonstrated an ability to keep small and large animals away from here (sometimes large humans also). No small animal has a chance. When the cat goes outside the house, he is hunting. He must not like the taste, for his catch ends up at the back door for me to deal with.

All little critters go through population cycles, and chipmunks appear to be in an upswing. We've had quite a bunch running around our place last year & this. I start to notice multiple roadkill chipmunks when driving, too. In the garden, they are just another pest. Try to forget the cute factor. Sue

One year they destroyed about 1/2 of my tomato crop. I had plenty so I didn't care too much.

Rat traps baited with peanut butter will catch them. They'll also run up trees and can then be shot with bird shot in a .22. Put the peanut butter UNDER the trigger so they can't lick it off without snapping the trap.

One summer I got tired of all the damage they were doing in the garage and decided to shoot them. I shot 99 or 100 and I never saw more than 2 at a time. Most of the time I only saw 1.
