wood stove space

Help!!! DH is getting ready to cut a hole in the roof and I would like to know how much space do we need from the back of the stove to the wall including the pipes. Is there a standard measure. I live in Wis. Its just regular drywall
Thanks for any help.

I would say at least 2 Foot, even though the back side of my stove is 1 Foot 5 Inches from the wall,I put heavy Fire Resistant Panel between it and the wall. The side of the stove is 2 Foot 5 Inches from the wall and that seems ok.

Depends on the stove. They're all rated differently. You can purchase heat shields that enable you to place the stove closer to the wall. I've got a stove that is about 18" from the wall with a heat shield.

What brand is the stove? You may be able to get some information from hearth.com.

You might also check with your insurance agent as some companies require a bigger distance than you may think is needed. If you are going to have insurance you will have to play by thier rules so check and see what they are.
